Iliana L. Peters is recognized by the health care industry as a preeminent thinker and speaker on data privacy and security, particularly with regard to HIPAA, the HITECH Act, the 21st Century Cures Act, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA), the Privacy Act, and emerging cyber threats to health data. For over a decade, she both developed health information privacy and security policy, including on emerging technologies and cyber threats, for the Department of Health and Human Services, and enforced HIPAA regulations through spearheading multi-million dollar settlement agreements and civil money penalties pursuant to HIPAA. Iliana also focused on training individuals in both the private and public sector, including compliance investigators, auditors, and State Attorneys General, on HIPAA regulations and policy, and on good data privacy and security practices. As a CISSP, Iliana works hard to bridge the gap between legal requirements for the security of health data and security industry best practices, so that clients can better understand data security issues and jargon.

Micky Tripathi is the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where he leads the formulation of the federal health IT strategy and coordinates federal health IT policies, standards, programs, and investments. He most recently served as Chief Alliance Officer for Arcadia, and served as a board member on the following: HL7, the Sequoia Project, the CommonWell Health Alliance, and the CARIN Alliance. He was also project manager of the Argonaut Project, an industry collaboration to accelerate the adoption of FHIR. Previously, he was President and CEO of the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative (MAeHC), President and CEO of the Indiana Health Information Exchange, Executive Advisor to investment firm LRVHealth, and a Fellow at the Berkman-Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University. Mr. Tripathi was a Presidential Management Fellow and a senior operations research analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, for which he received the Secretary of Defense Meritorious Civilian Service Medal.

Steve has over 40 years of experience in healthcare including health system management and over 30 years as a healthcare lawyer. Steve was lead author of the DURSA, the multi-party trust agreement supporting the eHealth Exchange, and numerous other data sharing agreements for HIEs and HINs. Steve is General Counsel for The Sequoia Project, involved in a wide range of national projects supporting health information interoperability.

Josh Mast has been with Cerner since September of 2011, serving on the Regulatory Compliance Practice consulting team and began researching Meaningful Use (now Promoting Interoperability) and consulting on the MU program with clients. Josh has continued to expand his expertise and is focused on research and education on regulatory topics in the Health IT arena. Josh previously worked for the Kansas Health Policy Authority (the Kansas Medicaid agency at the time). His primary focus over the last couple years has been information blocking and interoperability.

He is past Chair of the HL7 Policy Advisory Committee and HIMSS Electronic Health Record Association. Mark has spoken, published, and used social media extensively.

Mariann Yeager has more than 20 years experience in the health IT field. She currently serves as CEO for The Sequoia Project, a non-profit solely focused on advancing secure, interoperable nationwide health data sharing in the US. She also leads the Recognized Coordinating Entity effort, in close collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT to develop, implement, and maintain the Common Agreement component of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement and to operationalize the Qualified Health Information Network designation and monitoring process. The Sequoia Project also serves as a steward of independently governed health IT interoperability initiatives, including Interoperability Matters.
